For anyone who is interested I can send them a copy of the questionnaire being sent to trainers in the Cologne-Dusseldorf area. The questionnaire asks each trainer questions about various aspects of his/her conditions (not just pay, also how quickly are invoices settled, is there much bureacracy etc) Anyone is more than welcome to make use of the questionnaire, adapting it as they wish for their area. Slowly but surely we can begin to get an overview of what trainers are really having to do for what remuneration and under what conditions.. When about 2 dozen trainers have filled in a questionnaire, you have enough information to make an excel chart with the available information for your area, highlighting the good and not so good agents. Just write to rumpletweezer2000@yahoo.de and I shall send you a form as attachment doc and pdf. You can modify or adapt it as you wish-there is no copyright! YorickJenkins

I'll try to put it together as an interactive questionnaire that you can send out - or can be answered up here... and will send you a copy of the questions I sent out to TEFL trainers in the Munich area in 2001 - it might have a few points in it that you can take on board. I'm pushing for rates of pay and conditions to be included in all job ads that MELTA advertises, but the committee still has to make a final decision on that. Keep up the good work! John

Posts: 120 (Sat, Jun 21, 2008 17:58) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Thanks John-the form being used in the Cologne-Dusseldorf region is available via Google Documents-anyone is welcome to use it or adapt it as they see fit, obviously though it would be a useful every region kept to more or less the same format so that one day we can also compare between regions. Quite a lot of requests are coming in for the form and people are downloading so things are moving in Cologne-Düsseldorf area and trainers here already have an overview of rates. I sent a summary recently to the local ELTA newsgroup but I am being a meany (no bad conscience about it though) and am only releasing the full results with names of Auftraggeber to trainers who send me a filled in form. I suggest that in each region there should be one person responsible for coordinating the results, otherwise of course you would have chaos in no time. Well, I am sure nobody needs me telling me how to organize it. I hope other regions of Germany will soon be following the Cologne-Dusseldorf example! Posts: 121 (Mon, Jul 21, 2008 19:59) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	It is up to each region what they include but these are the issues which I consider important: Rate per USt Is there a bonus scheme Travel costs Cancellation notice Invoice settlement promptness Teaching or course contract notice Any special requirements-eg marking and preparing examinations, presenting invoice in certain format, by certain date, demand you are not scientologist.. (This can easily be broken up into two or more questions) What support with materials offered Any training requirement Anything else (viz place in the form to add anything else good or bad which is of importance-for example "this agent works with no contract whatsoever") General request to everybody out there-keep us all posted of progress!

What exactly is going to happen to the data, will you prepare statistics, and will you release any details incl. provider names? Btw. we have been having a fairly big network of about 35 teachers in NRW for about four years.

There are still some questions to be cleared (for example checking trainers' comments for actionable material, of which I am told there is a goodly share!) hopefully however, the report will be out soon. It should make for interesting reading.
